Polish success in the international online marketing competition

The team of students from Poznań University of Economics and Adam Mickiewicz University was the best in Europe in one of the categories of the competition of Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC).

The team of students from Poznań University of Economics, which also included a student from Adam Mickiewicz University, under the supervision of Dr. Wojciech Wiza, was the best in Europe in the category "Google+ Social Media Marketing". The winning team members were: Adrian Gasiński, Ilona Sadłowska, Hanna Pietruszyńska, Marta Musiał, Olga and Maciej Żytkowiak . The winners prepared a promotional campaign for the Movie Theatre Muza, one of the oldest cinemas in Poznań.

Wojciech Czart from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań told PAP that the team from Adam Mickiewicz University, under his supervision, was ranked in the TOP 5 best European teams of GOMC 2013. Since 2010 teams supervised by Dr. Czart each year are honoured with the title “Regional AdWords Finalist” (GOMC European Top 5).

Two other Polish teams, rated in the category "AdWords Award" also received high scores. They were included in the so-called Strong group of 23 teams ranked right behind the finalists. In this group was another team from AMU, supervised by Dr. Wojciech Czart, and a team from the Warsaw School of Economics under the supervision of Dr. Tymoteusz Doligalski, who\'s team was the Global Winner of GOMC 2012.

Teams participating in the competition were judged in three categories: "AdWords Award" , "Social Impact Award" and "Google+ Social Media Marketing" . Teams had to prepare and carry out a three-week marketing campaign in the Google AdWords online campaign management system.

According to Dr. Czart, students had to compete not only with other academic teams from all over the world, but also with other entities conducting marketing campaigns in real, open market. In the "AdWords Award" category, participants carried out campaigns for selected commercial companies, and in the "Social Impact Award" category - for non-profit organizations . Additionally, in the category "Google+ Social Media Marketing" teams could demonstrate social campaign skills in a six-week Google+ campaign for a commercial or non-profit organization.

Participants in this year\'s edition were almost 2.5 thousand student teams from around the world.

This is not the first Polish success in GOMC. Dr. Czart remineded that in 2009-2011, Warsaw School of Economics students won the European GOMC winner title three times, and in 2012 they were global winners of the competition. Teams from the Faculty of Physics at AMU were in the European Top 5 three times, in 2010-2012.
