Professor Magdalena Król, an experimental cancer research expert from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, has been awarded a Proof of Concept grant by the European Research Council (ERC). The list of 90 ERC grant winners was published earlier this week. Magdalena Król is the only person in this group to carry out the grant project in Poland.
The Grand Prize in the 18th edition of the Popularizer of Science competition has been awarded to Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski, paediatrician, President of the Foundation for the Infection Prevention Institute, expert of the Supreme Medical Council for Epidemical Threats. Winners in five competition categories (scientist, animator, institution, media and team) also received awards.
Four scientists from Poland are among the 408 winners of ERC Starting Grants - prestigious grants awarded by the European Scientific Research Council (ERC). Two researchers represent the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, and one each the Jagiellonian University and the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology.
The 18th edition of the Popularizer of Science has been launched. The competition awards people, teams and institutions that explain scientific problems and help others better understand the world. Candidates can be proposed until September 18. The winners will be announced in December.
