MBA program at the Faculty of Management and Economics of Gdańsk University of Technology received an international certificate of the Association of MBAs (AMBA). Only four other universities in Poland have this certificate.

Association of MBAs is an international organization established in 1967, dedicated to research in management sciences. The institution, whose head office is in London, awards international accreditations for universities offering Masters of Business Administration programs.

According to the assumptions of the Association of MBAs, only 2 percent of all MBA programs in the world have this prestigious accreditation, and just as many will have in the future. So far, AMBA accreditations have been awarded to 200 schools in 70 countries. In Poland only four other universities are accredited by AMBA: Faculty of Management of the University of Warsaw, Kozminski University, Poznań University of Economics and the Polish Open University. MBA at the Faculty of Management and Economics of Gdańsk University of Technology is the only program with this accreditation on the Polish coast, and the only in Poland offered by a technical university.

MBA program at the Faculty of Management and Economics of Gdańsk University of Technology was launched only eight years ago, and one of the conditions for obtaining the accreditation is at least three years of graduates. "In order to be accredited by AMBA, the program had to meet a number of other conditions. Experience of students counted in years was evaluated, as well as the career paths of graduates. Also taken into account were the university infrastructure, quality and level of classes, degree of internationalisation and even adequate number of groups" - informed the university in a release sent to PAP.

Representatives of the university explained that the AMBA Commission particularly appreciated the uniqueness of MBA programs (all programs are by university’s own programs), international faculty, the formula of classes (combination of knowledge with case studies and practical exercises), professional recruitment and involvement of faculty and management in the program. An asset were also close relations with the business sector and entrepreneurs.

Accreditation is not granted for life. The Association monitors the programs and requires re-verification. Accreditation allows for the participation in international rankings, and this contributes to greater internationalisation.

The official presentation of accreditation diploma will be held in Venice in March 2016.
