Polish project in the finals of the prestigious EU competition EPSA 2013

The project GreenEvo promoting Polish green technologies is in the finals of the European Public Sector Award EPSA 2013, told PAP spokesman of the Ministry of Environment, Paweł Mikusek. Winners will be selected on November 27 in Maastricht.

"We are in the final fifteen. We are delighted with this honour, that the mechanism that we came up with has been recognized throughout Europe " - said Mikusek. The spokesman added the GreenEvo project getting into the finals is important for the image of modern Poland. "We are busting the myths about our country. We are a country that promotes modern, innovative environmental technologies" - he emphasised.

According to the Ministry, the GreenEvo project is currently in the top five in the "European and National" category. This year, the competition EPSA 2013 (European Public Sector Award) received 230 projects from 26 EU Member States.

The objective of the competition is to promote innovative public initiatives of the EU Member States in the international arena. It has been organized since 2007 by the European Institute of Public Administration. This year\'s edition theme is "Weathering the storm – Creative solutions in a time of crisis".

Among the Polish public institutions awarded in the EPSA competition is the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. In 2011, the Fund received the award - Best Practice Certificate EPSA 2011 for a program of aid for loans for the purchase and installation of solar panels.

Green Technology Accelerator GreenEvo is a Ministry of the Environment project focusing on the transfer of Polish innovative environmental technologies and global promotion of Polish technical thought. So far, 48 winning companies have been selected in four editions of the competition. The priority of the program is to provide the Polish technology to foreign markets.

The ministry data shows that the revenues of companies that have participated in previous editions of the program increased on average by more than 30 percent, and export revenues by nearly 60 percent. 18 percent companies launched new production facilities, nearly 60 percent improved their technology, and 50 percent signed distribution agreements with foreign partners. Half of the companies participating in the program also increased employment.

The winners of the competition are entitled to various forms of support, including extensive training package and the production of individual films about offered technologies. In addition, companies are given the opportunity to participate in trade missions with representatives of the Polish government, as well as numerous seminars, business meetings and conferences.
